THE SOLAS CONVENTION IS TAKING SHAPE !

As of 1st July 2016, the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Convention's requirements for verified container weight will come into force.

Packed containers will be authorised to board ships only if their Verified Gross Mass (VGM) has been given to the ship's captain or his representatives at the terminal.

Since estimating the container's weight is prohibited, the SOLAS Convention has provided two methods for calculating a packed container's gross mass.

However, we are waiting for new information from professional associations about this measure's implementation.
