As of 1st July 2016, maritime container weight verification is mandatory

As we have already mentioned, the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention requirements for verifying container weight are applicable starting on 1st July 2016.

The new rules are becoming clearer…

Careful! If no VGM has been declared or a false declaration is made, the container can not be loaded onto the vessel and the loader will be responsible for any costs related to the refusal (weighing, lifting, storage…).
